Word of Life

An educational series blending animation and live action for Ignatius Press with Coronation Media.

As a Producer at Coronation Media, I had the opportunity to work on a groundbreaking project in partnership with Ignatius Press. Our mission was to produce three video series for the Word of Life curriculum, specifically targeting grades 4 and 5. These "Lesson Enhancement Videos" were designed to assist DREs, principals, teachers, and parents in educating students and families about their faith.

This was my first project with Coronation Media, and it was a trial by fire. The incredibly talented team at Coronation had never tackled a project of this scale before and needed a way to get it on track quickly. My role involved managing pre-production and production on multiple levels and staggering the phases of post-production. This approach allowed our team and adjacent contractors to handle the workload efficiently, stay on budget, and deliver on time.

Coronation developed three unique styles of videos to support the pedagogical needs of the curriculum. In total, 24 videos were produced, providing nearly two hours of engaging content. These videos ranged from mystical, illustrated stories brought to life from a well-worn tome, to present-day classroom settings modeling virtues for young children. Each video was crafted to enhance the educational material found in the accompanying textbooks and was developed in both English and Spanish.

One of the biggest challenges was getting the creative team accustomed to using communication tools like task managers, Slack, and email. Ensuring everyone was on the same page and using these tools to maximize our efficiencies was an added hurdle. I managed to leap over it without biting anyone's head off (or them wanting to kill me, I think).

The project was a huge success for the client and profitable for Coronation, thanks to my management. This experience underscored the importance of effective project management, clear communication, and the ability to adapt and innovate under pressure.
