Stand with Judge Keith

Interactive Exhibit for the Charles H. Wright African American Museum

This project marked a first for me, as I ventured into digital design, programming, and animation for a series of interactive screens for a permanent installation at the Charles H. Wright Museum in Detroit, MI. The exhibit honors Judge Damon J. Keith and features an interactive touch screen timeline where visitors can select a date to discover more about Judge Keith through photos, videos, and audio. It also includes a large 86” touchscreen to learn about all the influential individuals who clerked for Judge Keith, a large animated monitor array, and an interactive photo opportunity where visitors can choose their backdrop and a quote from Judge Keith, then pose for a photo that is sent directly to them for download and sharing.

As a Senior Digital Producer for EEI Digital at the time, I managed and created much of the design and animation work, working closely with the museum's historian team to create visuals and interactives they were happy with. The project provided invaluable experience in integrated programming and systems, and the client's satisfaction was evident as they expressed interest in implementing more digital interactives throughout the museum in a similar vein.

Opened on February 27, 2024, the Charles H. Wright Museum proudly debuted a new gallery that honors the life and legacy of the Honorable Judge Damon J. Keith. The exhibition, "The Judge Damon J. Keith Exhibit," offers a timeline of Judge Keith's life through an interactive experience featuring innovative technology. In collaboration with the Wright Museum's staff and other key stakeholders, we highlighted Judge Keith's childhood, family, military service, education, legal practice, and service as a federal district judge.

Judge Damon Jerome Keith (July 4, 1922 – April 28, 2019) was a United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and a former United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

Working on this exhibit was a significant and rewarding experience. It showcased my ability to integrate various digital elements to create an engaging and educational exhibit. The success of this project demonstrated the potential for future digital interactive installations, further enhancing the museum's offerings and honoring influential figures like Judge Keith.
