Act III Scn. II Reimagined

A short film in collaboration with James Majewski

Years ago, I had the unique opportunity to collaborate with a lifelong friend and actor, James Majewski, on bringing a monologue from Shakespear’s Henry II to life. It was an exercise in shifting perspective and setting to achieve something that felt cohesive with a short run time and with limited resources. I did almost every part of this production except act in it, so I’m calling myself the producer and director.

We shot on the stunning shores of Malibu, opting for an early morning shoot to capture the serene beauty of the coastline. This setting was a departure from the play’s original context but aimed to enhance the dramatic effect of the scene in a fresh and visually striking way.

James’ portrayal brought a new dimension to the monologue, bridging the gap between Shakespeare’s original text and our unconventional setting. His ability to convey the emotional depth of the scene was central to the success of this reinterpretation.

With minimal pre-planning, we adapted to the natural light and environment, making the most of the Malibu shores. The challenges of working under such conditions were met with creative solutions, resulting in a visually captivating and emotionally resonant piece.
